Windows 8 install image recovery fail

Hi my friend has asked me to recover his Dell Inspiron One 2330 to factory settings but for some reason it fails to recover, maybe the recovery image is corrupt. Would i be able to get the product key with software like KeyFinder, download a legit version of windows 8 and reinstall via disk or usb stick?.

Just go into the search bar and type in "reset" and it will come up with remove everything and reinstall windows.

Why are you using a recovery image when windows 8 has a built in feature to do it

I've tried that but i get Error code: 80070490

This is what I did when I could not access windows to wipe my drives.

Go into bios and set the disk drive a the 1st boot priority
Place windows disk into the disk drive (make sure you have your windows code)
Boot from disk and wait for windows to load up onto the install screen.
When you get to the option of what drive you want to download it to, format all of the drives to wipe then and delete all partitions.
Reinstall windows and you should be fine

That is what i did with my pc to wipe it

Does anyone know where i can download a official Wndows 8 OEM iso to use with the product key i have.

use the windows 8.1 disk instead, can get it from here

give it a try, it you cant install it with your current key then use one of these

core: 334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT
pro: XHQ8N-C3MCJ-RQXB6-WCHYG-C9WKB

then update the key once its installed

I created a usb windows 8.1 pro and installed with XHQ8N-C3MCJ-RQXB6-WCHYG-C9WKB and windows installed but when i went to activate with my oem key it would not work. Any suggestions?.

what does it say? you may need to give Microsoft a call to get them to activate it

In system it only said windows 8, would that mean i would have to install the windows 8.1 to my usb stick and not pro.

Win 8.1 Pro will not activate with a win 8 oem. You should use win 8.1. I have a win 8 Pro disc and I used win 8.1 Pro iso on usb and activated it successfully.

Done it thanks for the help peeps, i chose windows 8.1 and not 8.1 Pro when i used mediacreationtool. I wasn't asked for a key when installing and activated automatically when windows was fully installed. Thanks a lot.
