Windows 8 Installation...do I have enough space?

Even though I told the installer not to keep anything it bundled most of the files on my SSD into a windows.old folder. I ended up saving over 60GB when I got rid of it using disk cleanup.

So it won't overwrite the old Windows Installation?

The extra 20+GB is for when it backs up the old OS in case anything goes wrong and it has to restore it.

You'll need to make sure that space is available before doing the upgrade along with the space that is needed for the download and the initial part of the upgrade.

Okay, someone please help!

I have a 60gb Crucial M4 SSD with only 12GB of space left.

I also have a 1 TB hard drive with music/files and everything else on there.

If i want to upgrade to Windows 8.......what do I need to do? I've disabled the pagefile and stuff.

So how much in total needs to be free on my SSD with my current Windows 7 Installation before i attempt to upgrade to Windows 7?

Okay thanks for the help.

What if I don't want to overwrite? I only have 13GB of space left. I'm using SpaceSniffer to delete unneccessary files but a lot of them are confusing me.

For example I have found a 2.0gb file called "Install.esd" in the C:\ESD\Windows\sources directory.

Remove/ backup all files from the ssd to HDD then format your ssd giving you 60gb free space and install win 8?
