Hey guys, so I just got a new laptop which had windows 8 on and wanted to put windows 7 on. Tried booting from disk and USB without luck and it wouldn't pick the install up at all. So just tried removing the HD that came with it and put in my new SSD which I bought and I still can't get this laptop to boot. Its an Asus, should I be changing something in the bios other that boot ordeR?

Rapidly press F8 while laptops turns on then select usb with windows on it and it should work. If not try on other computer the usb as it may be corrupted or something.

Its alright sorted. There was a stupid security feature in Bios stopping you installing windows onto it whilst its enabled. Cheers lads. pain in the ass that.

"If you have an OEM PC that came with Windows 8 64-bit preinstalled and you want to install Windows 7 64-bit, then you must disable Secure Boot, because Secure Boot is not compatible with Windows 7. But if Windows 7 installation does not succeed in UEFI Boot Mode, try installing Windows 7 in Legacy BIOS Boot Mode, but then you will need to delete all partitions."

Have a look in bios for secure boot.
