Alright folks, Windows 8 Pro + Media Center upgrade installed :D

I've added in more formats to playback, but I'm still not finding out the way to playback Blu-Ray via Media Center and I'm also still having issues getting ISO files to play natively. I was under the impression that Windows 8 had native ISO file mounting now.

Any one got advice on both issues? I can share what packs I used to add more codecs to Media Center if anyone is interested
 
u need powerdvd. then Media Center will play.

the native ISO file mounting in win8 won't play bluray movies , only dvd movies,

download Virtual CloneDrive if u want to mount bluray movies iso's

There is no difference between the win 7 version, and the win 8 version. That's why you need 3rd party software to play blu-ray dvd's, Microsoft should have upgraded WMC.
 
They deem WMC dead, there stats show its such a small number that actually use it, they've given up on it and will leave it to third parties.
 
Not really as that is fairly standard practice for things Microsoft deem to be dead, e.g. for old versions of Windows they eventually go into some sort of Extended Support (possibly wrong terminology) whereby corporations have to pay for support.

Media browser (currently being rewritten for win 8 to take advantage of .net4)
Meta browser
Mpchc or mpcbe

Any DVD HD

All of this means full support for bluray, hddvd and1080p
