Windows 8 mouse

Any one else randomly having windows 8 mouse pointer disapear and get replaced with what looks like a flag pole with flags on it. Only comes back if I log out and then in again. Sometimes disappears completely

Nothing just stock win8 with steam open seems to happen if I leave it and go make food etc come back and the hard drives going nuts and the cursors gone very strange. Tried it from a cold boot with nothing open does the same will grab screenshot next time it happens.
