Hey.

Ok this isn't really a big issue but it bugs me and has for some time. My PC is Windows 8.1, and I linked the main account to my hotmail account.

When the PC turns on, I get the usual background image, to which I then click and get the screen where I need to type in my password.

Now at this stage, if on autopilot and type my password in, it says it is incorrect. Reason for this that I discovered quickly however, is that the very first letter I type is not entered in the box....so everytime I enter my password I have to type in the very first letter twice.....very annoying.

Does anyone know why this is/how to prevent it? Not a huge issue but useful to know if I can stop it (other than setting PC to auto login)

ah so its not just me then? Even when I click with the mouse to bring up the password view, and then click the mouse in the box where I type the password before beginning to type I still need to do it twice. It currently doesn't begin with a capital but will try that on next reboot and see what happens

I was wondering about that - I read you can 'unlink' it - but didn't fancy trying it just yet in case it also messed with my profile (I also use the One Drive for My Documents too)....but it would probably solve my SMB share path issue I have with accessing c$ etc paths between 2+ Win8 machines after linking the main admin account with 3 seperate hotmail accounts on 3 diff pcs

so I'm guessing you lose no desktop icons or other forms of data when you unlink the account. I have to do a fresh install of my daughters computer this week coming anyways so will unlink hers after backed up what need to.

cheers :) Only perk for my 2 kids accounts, is the auto login I guess will keep their hotmail accounts alive (as they don't really use them) but handy to keep active, as has their minecraft accounts linked (and always worth having additional addresses for signing up for junk :))

yeah its super annoying lol.

Whilst I can disable the lock screen, I still have to double press the first letter for it to work. I can confirm though it is fine IF you use a capital for your first letter of password
