Windows 8 Power Options Problem

I've always set my laptop to do the following

Dim the Display: 10 minutes on battery
Dim the Display: 15 Plugged In
Turn Off The Display: 20 Minutes On Battery
Turn Off The Display: 20 Plugged In

But for some reason its not dimming or turning off the display, any reason why this could be happening.

When you go to power plan in control panel is the powerplan you are on shown?
only saying as I updated my ati drivers, then uninstalled them due to them not working.

I think it caused the powerplan to not show anymore.

the way I got round it was a Windows 8 refresh your pc option. The system restore roll back didn't work as the powerplan was still corrupt. So a refresh did the trick.
