Windows 8 Pro Key

Hi guys

Got a Windows 8 Pro product key back from when they did the cheap upgrade offer, was wondering if I could download the Windows 8.1 iso and do a clean install on a brand new SSD and activate it successfully?

Then obviously go on to upgrade to Windows 10

Yes but you will need to use a generic key to install 8.1 then change to your key once installed. Or you could download an 8 ISO and then upgrade to 8.1 then upgrade to 10.

Was just thinking of skipping windows 8. Just wanted to know I could activate 8.1 with a 8 key once I used a generic key to get back the installation process.

So to clarify, install 8.1 iso, using a generic key. Once installed, change key to the one I got, and it will activate fine? Then I can upgrade to Windows 10. That all correct?

That's about right (the generic key you need should be floating around this section somewhere along with the procedure you need to follow to replace it with the windows 8 key you have).
 
Slight hitch at the moment.

Downloaded Windows 8.1 Pro using the Media Creation Tool by Microsoft onto a USB (created on my PC). Tried to install it on a fresh new SSD on a new, different PC and tried to use a generic key, however I keep getting the message "The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key."

Is this because the media I created is tied in to my system as it was created there? I did try a different range of generic keys, none of which worked.

Any ideas anyone?

Was using this one: GCRJD-8NW9H-F2CDX-CCM8D-9D6T9

Maybe I have been trying the wrong one?

Hopefully the one you listed works, and if it doesn't I'm not too sure what else to try, except to just install 8.0 then upgrade to 8.1.

Searching around that's not even a generic key. Seems it's something to do with KMS which is something else.

Haha probably been using something completely wrong then. Was just a key someone passed to me, said it worked for him. Will try the key you gave tomorrow then, hopefully should work! Will report back then!
