Hi guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before i did a quick search and didnt find one.

Im looking at buying Windows 8 Pro upgrade edition, i have Windows7 installed now but im having problems with it so i wish to format and do a fresh install completely, I dont wanna install W7 then upgrade to W8 really as that seems long winded.

What im asking if its posible to install the Upgrade edition of Windows8 on a Formated hard drive with nothing on. I do own W7 so thats no problem but i just want to do a fresh install.

Any help will be great, J

Before Win 8 no AFAIR (not 100% though) but since yes.

I see no point in installing an older OS to then update it, clean install is best.

It is possible.

1) Grab ISO (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=26101585&postcount=128)
2) Install using placeholder key
3) Activate using your key

See http://lifehacker.com/5984278/how-to-do-a-clean-install-of-windows-8-with-an-upgrade-disc/all if you encounter any errors.

Very easy to use the above methods if anyone is after doing the same as me, just download the ISO as above and use a placeholder key for the timebeing then use you're proper key, works a treat.
