Windows 8 refresh

so I did a refresh thinking it will just go to factory settings, as it said I will still keep all my files, but they could have warned me that I will loose ALL of my programs! grrrr

there is a folder called windows.old ..... can I go back to my windows.old os as to be honest I was happy with it (I only did a refresh because I had a minor niggle which the restore didn't fix anyway)

I thought windows.old contained all your program files from your old installation.

It puts a banner across the screen telling you it will remove all programs from discs and downloaded from the internet, and you have to click through it to advance.

The Windows.old folder is just a collection of files, it wont let you roll back.
