Hello

I have installed Windows 8 Pro x64 few days ago and checked for updates right away - there were 23 important updates available at the time.
I started the update process, it all went smoothly until I was asked to restart to apply them.
I did and had loading screen, standard Windows applying changes to the computer - it took around 10 minutes in this state, then I had a msg that update process failed and needs to be reverted. So it reverts itself.
I tried repeating same action several times, every time it does exactly same thing.
Here is the list of failed updates:

Also another thing. When I was installing Win 8, I was asked to type in the product key. So I did it. Every now and then I have a full screen pop-up asking me to register my copy, so I click to register, use the product key and it sais its not valid - I tried at least 10 times.
No idea what to do with this to be honest.
I bough this OS in Currys / PCWORLD, their terms and conditions of purchase say that for product to be returned and refunded, it have to be unsealed. Guess no refund then. So I need to find out what to do with it :/

Any ideas?

Anyone else having a similar issue? I can install most updates fine without activation but some fail on the reboot.

Pretty sure the number of activations is limited, before you have to mess around with that awful telephone system. So after a previous bad install I wanted to check it updated properly before activating.

Hardware changes is what normally triggers the activation issue. To be honest though the phone activiation, whilst being a pain as you actually have to pick up the phone, is pretty straight forward.

I can see MS not allowing any updates at all (even for Office, etc.) if it's not been activated. The only thing you could possibly do is try and find the patches manually from the KB numbers but that makes it a right pain to do and on some you need the validation tool as well (which essentially checks that your copy is activated).
