Windows 8 Updates Question

Morning all, been really happy with my new build over the christmas, came back to work and was talking to a lad here about it and told him how its set up and apparently cause of the way its set up it wont recieve any upates :|

Basically im running an SSD with OS and programs off it then ive got the documents linked to the 3tb hard drive

apparently doing this stops the security updates

Is that correct?? I hope not cause i dont want to have to flatten it and start again

I have never heard of this, in my time of working with PC's the only issues i have had getting updates is due to virus or malware infections

i would suggest giving it a try and see if it updates, you can manually get windows update to check for updates and them install them after.
 
Thank god for that, my plan was once i get sorted buy another 3tb hard drive as my back up drive....

i like being able to just save and it go to the 3tb drive i dont want to have to manually relocate my docs and stuff but apparently it affects updates.

ill leave it as it is and hope nothing comes of it
 
well im really pleased how its been running so far and im sure it asked to up date the other day it was just my friend at work said id be best checking incase it did affect it

just going to make an image disk incase things go wrong
