windows 8 upgrade install

Hi All Can anyone tell me if you upgrade your p.c to windows 8 from windows 7 do you lose all your saved files etc ? would you need to save them to disc ? or does it just over write windows 7 system files etc ? :confused:

Before any upgrade I would always do a backup!

however when upgrading directly from 7 to 8 all programs/saves are left intact.

and i take it theres no difference than a full version of windows ?

can you install the win8 upgrade onto a fresh formatted drive and it ask you for your win7 dvd when your installing win8 or do you have to buy the full blown oem version to do it this way?

from what i know i think you have to have windows installed to upgrade don,t think you can do a fresh install with the upgrade but someone else might say i,m wrong ?

looks like it can do a clean installation.

u just need a windows xp,vista,7 key/dvd to validate..

This was same on my Windows 7 Home upgrade (retail)

i did a upgrade from 7 to 8 and it saves all files settings everything.

Any good? we've started rolling windows 8 at work but I'm torn to use it on my laptop.
