Windows 8 Upgrade Question

Hello,

I have obtained a Windows 8 Pro key through the upgrade offer Microsoft were running earlier this year. During this process I had to enter my Windows 7 product key.

Question is, I plan on upgrading to Windows 8. Worst case situation and I need to downgrade back to Windows 7, will my old Windows 7 key still work, or will this now only be valid on Windows 8?6

(I would not want to run Win 7 and 8 at the same time, just want to know if I didn't like Windows 8,would my Win 7 key still activate?)

yes if you haven't used it to many times if it's retail etc and on same hardware, yes if it's oem on same hardware, but less number of times to phone up to activate etc

so if retail and activated once or twice before you use win 8 upgrade, yes on same hardware and can do it online most of the time so phone call not needed

if oem and activated once or twice before and use win 8 upgrade, yes on same hardware, but if you have done it a few more times, phone call needed, and sometime if you have done it too many times, they won't do it and give reasons why etc

It's an OEM copy that came with the machine and hasnt been reinstalled since so should be okay.
