Is the Upgrade key tied to the key for the OS you are upgrading? I.e could I upgrade a windows 7 PC to windows 8 then install that windows 7 on to another computer and use another upgrade code on the 2nd computer?

so do you have windows 8 upgrade key or do you have a windows 8 full version?

the windows 7 version you have, did you buy it on its own or did it come with a pre built system?

if its on a pre built system then its normally tied to the bios\motherboard as the key is stored in the system bios.

The Windows 8 would be an upgrade key and the Windows 7 is a version i have bought myself separately.

The clue is kind of in the name "upgrade".
You are upgrading your Win7 license to a Win8 license. The old Win7 license no longer exists as a seperate entity.
So no, it could not be legally installed on a different computer.

ok, so you shouldn't have a issue then as OS's that come with pre built systems are normally tied to that PC\laptop.

may need to use the phone system to active it but give it a try
