Windows 8 who's buying/upgrading

Downloaded and installed yesterday.

I always like change so loving the new start screen.

One strange thing - i had skype from windows 7 and i also downloaded the skype app from the store, so now i have two skypes. It merged my account but now i have two accounts, one with my email and one with my old username, everything i say goes through both accounts. Wondering whether to keep both and use which ever depending on which screen im on, or just delete the one i like the least.

Control Panel\System and Security\System

Excellent thanks. Didn't see it there before.

Really pleased... install went great on a brand new 120gb OCZ Vertex 2e SSD, had nothing on it previous so a complete fresh install.

64bit activated. A bargain for £25 - Happy days! :D

Getting problems with nvidia drivers.

If I install and drivers without rebooting, I can set SLI. When I restart later or soon after enabling sli I cannot access the nvidia control panel again.

However, if I install drivers and reboot straight away without setting up sli, I can open the nvidia control panel but cannot enable sli...

I cannot resolve this issue hence putting back Windows 7 on now.

Hoping by the time I feel the need to re-install I can put Windows 8 back on in a true stable environment and with updated/proper/non-beta e.g. soundcard as I thought W8 was not bad.

I did enjoy faster boot times (and write file write times?) with Windows 8 and if I'm honest thought the Metro was not too bad, considering all the bad press it's been getting. I had the 'tiles' all organized into the way I like in the most logical way I could think of and it made a change to the way I would normally use the computer.

At the same time perhaps contrary what others might conclude I thought the Windows 8 experience was good for non-enthusiasts as they could do something similar simply click and point on what they want to do and it just does it. With all the settings and behind the scenes/out of view. I thought this was good with say, mother instead of going through the Start menu and finding it via there she could simply just click on it. A bit like the current set up I made for her - creating shortcuts on the Vista desktop.

I can however find some several annoyances with it. For example proper applications and apps differences -- the need to switch between Metro and the regular desktop.

And this is me coming from having XP, Vista (brief period) and 7 working on the grey Windows Classic Style and Windows Standard 'themes' (disabled) to emulate the much loved Windows 2000.

edit: definitely a W8 problem. I installed the same (beta 310.33) drivers on Windows 7 and after restarting I could enable SLI and open nvidia control panel as many times as I want. So definitely going to wait before I make W8 my primary OS.

Did you try the 310.33 drivers?

How do you add a 2nd email account into the mail program, there was an option in the bottom left corner to add another but it's now gone ?

Charms bar, settings add account

Settings are always in teh charms bar, so always look there for stuff. One brilliant thing about standardized menus. Also right click at the top of an app can show some settings.

Forgive me if this has been answered already, but can you add a Google Apps account rather than a Live account to use with Mail, People, Calendar, etc?

I don't want to have to set it up with a Live account, then add the Google account on top!

Does anyone know how to make the taskbar at the bottom of the screen a solid colour? The rest of the window is a solid colour but the bottom is transparent and showing some of my wallpaper which is mighty distracting?

Thanks :)

If I download and burn an iso on my desktop, and then install win8 on my laptop, can I sell the original version of win7 that I had on the laptop, or does the win 7 key get disabled.
