Hi all
I upgraded my acer aspire v3-551 to windows 8, however when I turn it on my wifi does not come on, if I go to wifi connections it says wifi(off) If I go to pc settings>Wireless then the wifi button is greyed out, however if I restart the pc the wifi works
Any ideas?

Isn't there some kind of switch or combination of keys that have to be pressed on the keyboard to switch on wi-fi and not going through the PC settings section.

I have a acer aspire 5551 that I've upgraded to windows 8, and the wi-fi only comes on during boot up if I performed a full shutdown (either during the update process or if I use shutdown.exe) and not the windows 8 style hybrid shutdown.

That's just weird as I can turn on the wi-fi on my laptop without having to reboot (and the wi-fi option is greyed out when it's off).

Do any of the other FN combinations work? (if they don't then it might be something else that's causing the problem).

I would uninstall the driver for Wi-fi and let Windows reinstall it after reboot ,see if that helps, also I guess you could try refresh option for your PC as well http://winsupersite.com/windows-8/windows-8-tip-reset-or-refresh-your-pc ,guess both are worth a shot as last resort.

I don't think the driver has any control over the keyboard command that turns the wi-fi on which is why I asked if any of the other FN key combinations work (I suspect that those functions are controlled by another piece of software that isn't installed or isn't running).
