Windows 8 will focus on gaming

Waits for "gfwl will be mandatory and pre installed".

Although with any luck the eu may dissuade them.

I agree.

There will be some type of Dashboard pre-installed, almost definitely.

Maybe Steam will be pre-installed and GFWL is being scrapped, that would be focusing on games IMO.

 Same old, same old. Wait a minute maybe Alan Wake will be pre-installed into W8! Then again they'l probably cancel flight simulator for Windows and make it a 360 exclusive for the Kinect. Running about the living room arms out wide like a wee boy shouting weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyaaaaaaaaaaa at the top of your voice until the missus slaps you.:D

:D

MS need to concentrate on Vista & Windows 7 as nothing those 2 OS cannot do with DX10/11 titles right now just port over some big console only games & polish them up for PC. MS are unlikely to put much effort into PC as it would take sales away from Xbox division & they know it so no incentive to improve beyond token measures like this

what's wrong with gaming on windows at the moment? All microsoft needs to do is keep working on new technologies in DirectX etc and maybe (maybe) on occasion go out of their way to support some sort of PC game development.

Although i'm liking this living room Flight Simulator idea :D

Why do people claim that Microsoft wont put the effort in because they rather the xbox?

Are they aware that the majority of people who game on pc also own a console? Have they also thought that loosing the monopoly power to apple would be a gigantic blow to Microsoft which they might never recover from? Quite frankly I think apple is a far more smart company, even though I dislike macs.

As for the new OS being aimed at gaming, its the usual hype that goes around every few years and means nothing. There is not a chance it would ever be built in a "gaming theme" because the vast majority of pc's are not used for gaming. All it means is that it will be optimized to perform better and be easyer for dev's to design on.

Not many details to go on at the moment but then again frankly I don't see much wrong with Windows 7 when it comes to gaming. Saying that they been singing the same tune since "Longhorn" so we'll see if they actually do anything or this is just their compulsory quarterly press release for PC gaming.
