i currently have a win7 pro pc with xbmc on it, but think i would like to put win8 on it and use xbmc has any one used there HTPC is this way yet? / can provide feedback on it

Dual boot XBMC and Win8?

I have no experience with Win8, I presume there's no known way to disable metro? If its a standard PC as well, what difference does it make if metro loads and you need to open XBMC manually.

Otherwise why else would you bother with windows 8 if it was just a media centre.

Eden works fine, Frodo beta 2 I've had sever stuttering problems with it but fordo beta 1 appears to work fine. Although I can't hear audio on youtube vids in chrome when xb,c is open. Not sure if this is a beta 1 problem or a win 8 problem. I'm not really too bothered though.

I use XBMC on Server 2012 with no issues at all. I have the box set to login automatically with a limited account which loads the desktop by default and starts XBMC.

Can't say I've noticed anything different compared to XBMC on Server 2008 R2 or W7 if I'm honest.

Oh, also using Eden with the HD Audio patch to get some HD audio passed to my amp

When did that patch come out?

I've updated my HTPC from Windows 7 with XBMC to Windows 8 with XBMC.

The one thing that bugged me about Windows 7 when I moved to XBMC from Media Center is that I couldn't use the Green Button on my remote to start XBMC reliably, even with changing various other things (registry settings, 3rd party programs etc)

So - when the £15 offer was on for Windows 8, I took the opportunity to get Windows 8, and have thrown XBMC on there.

I've cleared down TIFKAM so that it just shows 2 tiles currently - XBMC and Desktop.

I can navigate this with my MCE remote, and launch XBMC. I'll have to check what Add-On I've put on to allow me to use the green button and all the other remote keys within XBMC properly, if anything!

With the new XBMC (Frodo) coming out of beta soon, I'll give it a whirl - but for now I'm very happy with Windows 8 and XBMC - in fact, having Windows 8 on there has removed the one issue I was having with Windows 7 - Windows Media Center.

ok, I wanted to use 8 as it looks like it would be a better interface for htpc and my remote, i have a few issues with xbmc going jittery a few mins in to a films every time on the initial start up. running eden so i might try the beta out as well.
