Yep another windows question, ok I am seriously thinking of upgrading to W8 soon and I want to know the cheapest way of going about it if possible.
I have heard of lots going the W8 route and upgrading to 8.1 when it comes out for free, is this the best way?

Someone said something about MS doing away with upgrade versions upon 8.1's release, certainly making it harder to upgrade more cheaply.

However I have not seen anything from a reliable source on this. To be safe though you could buy an upgrade license of Windows 8 now and then upgrade through the Windows Store upon 8.1's release...

Sounds the best way to me, just looking around now for the cheapest legit license.

That sounds about as legitimate as a child born out of wedlock to a hobbit and an ogre.

Enterprise is only available VLK, and certainly not individually. Nor is it general availability yet. I have access to it through MSDN (not even through my VLSC yet), but seeing as KMS host keys are currently not available, I have no way to activate them.

That still doesn't make it legally obtained. Muchlike the XP key that was leaked back in the day.

As such, further discussion of this topic is to stop. NOW.

Hot deals UK had win 8 upgrade going cheap.

Just bought this but missed the hotdeals price, got it for 59.50 for the pro upgrade.
Doing a ' clean install' of it now to see if it all runs ok then will put it on my ssd for the 8.1 upgrade tomorrow. Thanks for your suggestions guys.

If you look around you pick Windows 8 for £50 and just update it 8.1 on Friday.
it's tomorrow (17th) midday GMT for the free upgrade from 8.. the 18th, is for the retail box's

Los Angeles, California will be 17th at 4am
New York will be 17th at 7am
UK will be 17th at 12pm
New Zealand will be 18th at 12am

etc.. .

Just a quick update, just installed and although its an upgrade DVD its activated ok as Windows 8 Pro when done as a clean install, I will update it and see if all is still ok.

You can factor the cost of the 'Start8' app into your costs.

If you are using mouse n keyboard, W8 is a fkn nightmare to work with without Start8.

U probs know this already, but Start8 returns the 'Start' button to the taskbar and gives the option of bypassing the Metro UI, as well as all the other annoying pointless crap that comes with W8.

Last I knew, it cost $10. (£7)
