Believe it or not a friend was given an old Dell Dimension v400c and wants to get it working.

I have now for my sins got it in my possession and the only thing not working properly is the Realtek RTL 8019 LAN port. I managed to find the drivers but now it's asking me to insert the 'Windows 95 Disk 18'.
I dont have any disks whatsoever for Windows 95 and if I remember correctly it was all floppies wasnt it.

Am I snookered or has anyone got a solution (like anyone cares about Windows 95).

Be nice to get it working though. ;)

I have a Windows 95 CD. Give me a sec to see if I can find anything of use on there.

EDIT: Ah wait never mind, I've read your post again and you've already got the driver. Not sure what you can do in that case then I'm afraid!

If I can remember right just click ok with no disk in there, it will then come up with another question asking for win95_cab18 (or something similar). You can then use an acquired win95 cd on it (provided the DELL has a cdrom drive). Make sure it matches the windows version, ie Win95, win95a, win95b (most common) or win95c etc... (It will tell you in system properties).

I clicked OK and its states that the file 'secur32.dll' on WIndows 95 disc 18 could not be found.

Atleast I know what file I need.

I would have thought that dll would be in a folder on C: already

Let me check

It says in the system properties:

Microsoft Windows 95
4.00.950a

I am assuming I have Windows 95a then?

yes.

95 on floppies, to hell with that.

its wanting to add networking stuff, protocols etc and you need the disk. these wouldn't get downloaded to the hard drive with installation to start with.
