I have A retail copy of windows 7 that i upgraded to windows 10 when microsoft were giving the upgrade for free . I am about to change mb and cpu from intel to amd. Will my win 7 product code be ok on a fresh install of win 10.. i have read conflicting things and as of yet have no definitive answer!

I'd say yes. I've installed Windows 10 on a few machines recently and they all activated using Windows 7 keys (and hadn't ever previously had Windows 10 upgrades).

It'll only take 5 minutes to find out anyway.

Windows 10 is amazingly good at fixing itself when moved to different hardware. It's completely different to the mess it made on earlier versions.

It's 100 percent fine. Just download the win10 iso and activate with your original win7 key, did it last week again myself.
