Windows and Mac tv tuner

I've got a Freecom DVB-T USB Freeview thingy. Freecom are utterly useless when it comes to all things Mac, but thanks to a bit of Google research I found out the Freecom works in EyeTV if you tell it to look for a Miglia TVMini.

EyeTV rocks BTW. Makes the software that's bundled with the Freecom seem utterly useless!

Ive got the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid and that works fine under Windows, when you plug it in under Windows it thinks its a Hauppauge HVR900 iirc, you just download the drivers and software and away you go. As magicboy has said above though, once you try the EyeTV software it makes the Hauppauge software seem pathetic, slow and ugly.

Nice one. The Elgato it is then. I only want it to run under windows as I'll be without my Mac for a couple of months when I move down to London so I'll be using it on my work Thinkpad laptop.

Whats the reception like on the eyetv without connecting to an extrenal antennae? Presumably it has a good internal one to justify the 4x price difference over the Freecom model????

The Elgato Hybird is actually a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900 and is compatable with the eyetv software, you could buy a WinTV HVR-900 and get the eyetv 2 software after or see if you can get the hauppauge software after buying the eyetv hybird.

Most of these sticks require an external aerial for decent reception. The only way I've got the standard aerial to work OK without dropouts is to sucker it to an outside window at the back of the house. Can't get a decent signal in the back garden however...

I decided to go for the EyeTV hybrid in the end. If I went for something else i'd have ended up having to buy the eyetv software for about £60 anyway.

What is really annoying me about it is the ability to record a series instead of having to set a recording for each single episode...unless i'm missing something.

That is a function it doesnt have, and having both Sky+ and Tivo, its one that I also miss, the way I do it myself is to go to the ¨program guide¨ then search for all episodes of the program, it will then list all known upcoming episodes, making it easy to just right click, add, thru them adding them to the record schedule.

I agree its also missing from tvtv although tvtv knows that its a serise you just cant link, i make macro's which i use every week.

tvtv.com provides data and online program scheduling.

Thought I'd drag this up instead of starting a new thread. Is there anyway to stream what you get from EYETV to a 360 or PS3? Not bothered about live TV, just the recorded stuff. Cheers

With EyeTV software you can export the recordings to any format you can think of, im sure one of them will play on the 360... If you want just the mpegstreams you can simply OPEN the .eyetv packages and copy out the .mpeg data, which is quicker than exporting.
