Windows antivirus 2011 malware

What an annoying experiance i've just had, first ever virus on my PC, Microsoft SE didnt stand a chance, what can I replace MSE with?

Couldnt get on the internet without ending certain tasks, couldnt launch msconfig and costant pop ups etc, eventually removed it with some instructions on a web page I managed to find which is a relief as I pictured a fresh install :eek:

All this from googling imaging a Mistubishi Colt Ralliart :confused:

No antivirus seem to pick these things up at the minute. Sucks.

Yup caught this today .. closed my browser /mse and spybot .. Killing the process and then running spybot got rid but its a nasty little thing if it gets chance to stay there for a while .

Yeh it is a nasty one. I used rkill and mbam to get rid of it. Avast couldn't pick it up either.

Our symantec endpoint work solution misses it also.
Workstations are winXP though.

We used to have this several times a week at work. Then I used Group Policy to deny programs from executing within the Users folder (under Documents and Settings in XP), and I've never had it again. We do get the occasional genuine app (I'm looking at you Adobe) that execute tmp files in the Temp folder but they can be excluded.

You can edit a single PCs Group Policy I think from Start and type MMC then add the Group Policy snap in.

Same procedure I used, found it on a website when I managed to get control of my browser back

Glad its not just me anyway, felt my pride take a hit! Never had an issue before this on my home PC

Fancy putting up the fix ?

I thought I was getting hooked by something in by browser earlier, Firefox4 I was searching for a pic of a beetle and my browser minimised on its own when i full screened it there was what said it it was an online check installing/running because i'd had some kind of critical process etc etc.

I shut it down right away and ran MB and Avira before I opened my browser again. come up clean but deffo something was going on not normal
