Does anyone use Windows Azure?

Our Partner Network Account comes with Server Essentials 2012 and a basic account for Windows Azure.

I can't quite grasp the purpose of it, where does it come in re. SkyDrive and SharePoint?

Is it a cloud *backup* solution or a cloud *storage* solution or both?

i.e. As an SME can we store all our data on the physical server hardware and automatically backup everything using Azure integrated into Server Essentials?

The basic account certainly allows for online backup using Azure, I've not got any knowledge further than this as we've got a much bigger VL subscription and are using Azure to have an offsite mirror of core infrastrucutre.

We're not mirroring data, we've got a dupicate config of our internal virtual machines hosted up in Azure for failover.

We use it a lot, our main transaction DB is on Azure (SQL) its really good only 1 houor downtime in the last 3 years.

so Paradigm when you a duplicate, you edit/revise a file locally and the revision is illustrated both locally and in the cloud through Azure?

No.

We aren't using it for file storage, the only thing that is "replicated" in that sense is the SQL database.

Everything else is hot standby servers like our webservers and domain controllers, etc.
