Windows background file format

Just wondering what file formats you use for windows backgrounds... I'm using JPEG on Vista on a 1680 x 1050 widescreen monitor.

JPEG quality is reduced, I used to use BMP but they're so big these days

jpeg quality depends on how much it has been compressed, there are quality levels on a slider from 1-100 when you create a jpeg

microsoft paint jpeg is crap

use paint.net and save a jpeg in that, you see a preview of the quality before-hand
