As you can see i have this background, and the text looks a little naff, is there a way of having just the text appear, and have no colour?

Open up My Computer->Control Panel->System

then from there

Advanced->Performance then make sure Use Drop Shadows is checked

that should do it
...

try and go to display and change the desktop backround colour... its in a box.. even if you have a backround... it might work

did for me last week

Go into the advanced settings as before and tick the box for maximum prettnes or whatever it isi called and that should solve it

It will also only work with the XP theme not the classic theme i belive

I had this problem on my little bro's pc, the cause was that the background image was a png I think. Changed it to a jpg and it sorted it :)

yeah i thought about that, but mine is def jpg

i know how to fix it

gimme a sec..

you've removed the picture and fax viewer from xp with nlite right? :)

put this file.. http://bleddyn.co.uk/temp/shimgvw.dll in system32 folder, and do..

start, run, regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

should fix it right away, (might need to reboot), and disable and re-enable that tweak in the post above..

or workaround is convert the jpg to a bmp file, then it'll display it fine
