Windows based PC or iMac?

Hello all, I am back here after a while away to ask for some advice. I am currently looking at getting a new system to compliment my new photography venture, now the age old question iMac or PC has come to the fore once more.
What's everybodys thoughts on the matter? I am fully able to build my own system as I have built numerous systems in the past so do I build a 4930K based machine or do I opt for the very pretty iMac i7 27 inch?

Has anyone made the move from Windows to Mac for this purpose, if so what are your thoughts?

I appreciate its been asked a million times before but would like to do some research for myself before stumping up any cash.

Many Thanks

Judging by recent "spec me a mac killer" threads, you actually don't save that much these days by building yourself with similar components. If you also value the style/design and convenience of buying ready-made then the mac is hard to beat.

Also I would be extremely surprised if you needed a 4930K for photo work. An i5 (e.g 4570) and 8 or 16 G of memory (depending on how many files you want open concurrently) will probably be plenty.

Edit: the screen will probably be the most important part of this build if it's serious photo work, at least £500 for a good Dell or similar.
