As the title suggests windows for me is becoming unstable, keeps going to desktop by it's self while playing a game, not refreshing when I delete items strange icon problems aswell, No errors though.

Is there a fix or should I just re-install

it's windows 7 home premium 64bit OEM
been installed and untouched on my pc for about 4-5 months.

4-5 months is still very young unless you've continuously been installing and uninstalling software which has left residue of old files on your system and has now become bloated.

I suggest in teh first instance you get some very good free utilities for scanning and cleaning your registry, scan and remove any unwanted files on your system such as old installation files. Erase you IE internet history and any cookies and temporary web files.

Firstly I would suggest if you are getting irratic system behavour that you run a full system AV and malware scan. Download the free version of MalwareBytes scanner and do a full scan.

If you don't already have one take a backup and set a system restore point.

If your window minimises while playing games its probably because your system is running a schedule such as AV scanning and if you can reschedule it to a better time in the day or if your scanner has the ability switch on game mode so it will wait till you've finished playing.

One thing to remember, do one clear down and scan at a time, many of these automated all in one scanning and fix tools do more damage than they fix.

Hope this helps.
