For Microsoft to give it away free, then blue must be a Service Pack for win 8.

It's not a service pack by definition of what a service pack is. People can and will argue what it is; I'm telling you what it isn't.
Why don't we just call a spade a spade?
The Blue wave of updates, which, don't forget, go beyond Windows itself, are a new type of broad product upgrade based on a new cycle.
I don't understand why we have to assign old labels to new ways of doing things.
We just know that this upcoming raft of update goes by the codename Blue. I'm sure Microsoft will reveal an appropriately ridiculous name for the final release when they see fit, but until then that's all we've got.
