Hey all

Just this week when I started my back up PC I get...

following file missing or corrupt

\windows\system32\config\system

blah blah attempt to repairt by starting windows setup using original disk and selecting 'r' option.

So I change the boot sequence to see CD first and pop in the disk put nothing happens? same message comes up.

Any ideas as to how I can fix this pls guys? I can't seem to get any menu or option to use safe mode etc. bit stumped.

Cheers

ok, the first hurdle was as Dano mentioned, I've now hooked up a PS/2 keyboard and it works up to being able to hit 'R' to repair. But then is doesn't see the hard drive?

HDD is SATA

Is there a way I can remove the HDD and safely copy the files I need from another PC? and if so what files?

Thanks for the help guys I manager to sort this.

PS/2 keyboard was the first thing and then I managed to find the old SATA drivers disk and F6'd on boot up.

It used the windows repair function ok the only odd this was it asked for the admin password (which I've forgotten!) but it still repaired the pc without putting this in.

Anyway, its getting a rebuild!
