Windows Boot Problem

Hi guys,

I'm trying to install XP on a Toshiba U300 Laptop. It already had a partition present which when you try to boot to windows it returns a 0x0000007b error. So i'm trying to delete that partition and reinstall windows, but it says there is no hard drive present?

I checked up on that error code and it said something about a boot sector virus, but i'm not entirely sure on that.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue?

It tells you how to format and partition using the Setup Program.

Just looking at this link - i was getting up to stage 4, but i couldn't go any further than that as it prompts a screen with 'cannot find any hard disks'. I think the drive is completed screwed, but any other thoughts?

Hey Saint, if you restart the laptop, once it has posted keep pressing F8 until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the arrow keys to select the Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked) option and then press enter.

Hey Saint, is their any chance you can get into the BIOS?

If you can make sure that the primary boot device is the Hard Disk Drive.

I looked at that earlier. It says on there to press F5 or F6 to move the priorities as the HD is 2nd after the CD, but it doesn't move it lol.... confusing?
