I have had my computer for around 6 months (built myself, see spec in sig) and it has been playing up for the last couple of days. When I boot it all seems to be loading ok but there are vertical lines of dots all over the screen. When it gets to the XP boot screen it starts to load and then sometimes BSOD's and restarts (before I can see the BSOD clearly) and sometimes loads to a blocky black and white screen which just hangs. I have taken the HD and put it into another computer and it seems to work ok (wont actually start as it says the hardware has changed and you have to click yes or no to reactivate but the USB keyboard and mouse wont work.) I am running check disk at the moment and will defrag.
I'm at a loss to explain the problem as I don't think I changed anything (just left it off for a week whilst on holiday), I managed a virus scan before it was totally crippled and that didn't return anything. I am guessing it may be a hardware problem (maybe graphics??) because it seemed to be working ok in the other machine.
