Hi Every1 i am a new computer builder and overclocker, i have no problems with performance except my boot up time!
I use a p5q pro mobo and have quick boot enabled and express gate on but after i enter load OS it takes nearly a minute to get to xp load page then start page takes another 20 secs!! The boot page has a underscore flashing in the top left of screen half of this time as well.
I have tried changing boot up devices and disabling others but nothing shortens this boot up time.
I have an E8600 o/c to 425 and a sata hard drive and ati 4670 gpu as i say for a 1st build performance aint bad apart from this infuriating load up time.
Any ideas folks?

If you have no IDE devices, disable the Marvell controller in the bios. Is it a clean install of XP? If not, backup, format and reinstall (or try vista 32 or 64 or even Win7).

Why do you have express gate on, just out of curiosity? Do you think you'll ever use it? I try and disable all the unused stuff in the bios (network boot, marvell controller, make sure sata is set as ide or ahci not raid) and a bunch of other stuff so I don't have to sit through a whole bunch of junk when booting.

Also, try booting in safe mode - see whether that takes a long time and if so what it's trying to load when it pauses or takes a long time (you'll get the debug screen showing what's loading when you boot into safe mode).

Other than that we'd probably need more info - how much memory you have, any usb devices plugged in when booting, that kind of stuff.

edit: just seen the quicker reply - ignore stuff in my answer that isn't relevant :)

Installation is a new fresh boot as it is a home build but i think you may be right diasbling IDE as my old hard drive was this format until upgrade.
I have 2*1 kinkston hyperx mem and only usb keyboard and mouse so i cant see this as the problem.
As for express gate I think you right have never even set it up, lol.
Thanks for help will try when i get on rig as i still at work til for cpl more hours.
