Windows Browser Sound Problems

Having problems with sound on my pc. I can hear mp3's, avi's through windows media player fine. Windows system sounds and anything that has sound through the browser for eg flash or videos play the video fine but do not play any sound. using latest ffdshow as my codecs. Any ideas what this could be?

Any help would be great.

Also just noticed that it's also all my system sounds have gone too. Can't even play them from cp>sounds. Only just twigged onto this though. It's still broken any help would be wonderful.

I had a problem a short while ago and managed to get it fixed. Here's what happened to me. Hope it helps as it seems like you have the same problem as me.

I had recently installed a new version of ffdshow and uninstalled it. That's when my problems started.
