For anyone that has dual screens and a Nvidia card mainly 4xx and 5xx series (or so I'm lead to believe) this function may come as a god send to you. I recent purchased a GTX470 and was having a bit of a problem with the card not down clocking properly when on desktop so it was idling at like 65oc. After reading up about it, it seems that my dual screens were the problem as they require more bandwidth than a single screen, apparently 8x the performance. But after disabling the 2nd monitor it sat nice and cool and even dropped down to 38oc last night. Using the windows button & p function to enable/disable the 2nd screen really is a god send. With my setup the 2nd screen is only my tv that I use for watching films in bed so I don't have it on all the time and so don't need it enabled all the time.

I'm not sure with ATi cards as I've just got rid of mine and never really played with the profiles, but it's a shame that you can't reduce the voltage of the 48xx series, or at least I couldn't with my 4850, as my GTX470 is now currently idling at 32oc.

^What is the current fan speed that enables your 470 to idle at 32C please, just curious. :)
