Windows Cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have tha appropriate permissions to access the item.

I am getting this error when I try to run any exe files on my pc. It just started to happen today out of the blue and I don't know why. I am using the admin account on my pc (Win XP Pro SP2). I tried Zone Labs antivrus and spyware and also AVG7 but it doesn't work. Any tips?

You tried in selective startup mode?
Start > Run > type: msconfig and hit OK.
Choose 'selective startup' and untick 'load startup items'.
Go to the services tab, tick 'hide all microsoft services' and then click disable all.
Hit apply, then close and reboot.
Try running an exe.

Good way to see if it's an application on the pc causing the issue.
