Hello Guys

W7

Lost password for this computer. Tried to crack password (with downloaded Password CD) to gain access to Homepage. It seems to have been successful, but before starting Setup, I forgot to remove the CD.

Since then depending on what I try to do I get different messages, such as in the above title.

I turn on PC and choose >Launch Startup Repair>Startup repair is checking your computer for problems> Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically. I click on 'view diagnostic and repair details'. It gave me a list of checks carried out successfully (18), but cannot determine the cause.

Any suggestions please ?.

Many thanks for info

But as I am not savvy with this, please let me know which version.

Thank you.

In my first post I should have added that one of the messages said 'Command.com' is missing or corrupted.

So that may be the reason Ubantu did not work.

Get a live CD/USB and do a backup. Like the others have said.

If I was you I would watch the HDD, my laptop did just that and it was the HDD giving out, eventually windows picked up this too...

I would also get HDD diagnostic tools as well just to make sure its not that giving out.

It would be useful to know who makes the HDD through as they all have their own

For example say you have a seagate drive, you will need Seatools for DOS, burn the ISO onto a USB or a bootable CD.

I'm saying this to put awareness that hard drives do fail, suddenly without warning.
