Windows can't find wireless adapter

Hi guys,

I've just installed a new wireless network adapter on my computer. Put it in, installed the bundled software, the green light is on on the card, but Windows can't seem to find it. Am I missing something?? Your help is greatly appreciated,

I ran the diagnostic test that came with the card as the application didn't work. It says that the card isn't enabled.

What make is it?
What shows in device manager?

Have you got the latest drive for the manufacturers site?

It's the OCUK brand 150mbs wireless adapter, or ADDON 150Mpbs 802.11n Wireless PCI Express Adapter. I'll check the site for the latest drivers. It doesn't seem to show up in device manager unless it's "Microsoft ISATAP Adapter"

Their site has no software on it that is relevant to this product.

Try Device Manager - uninstall Microsoft ISATAP Adapter - reboot

I've done that but still only the wired connection shows up in the adapter settings, and ISATAP came back in device manager...

Remove the wirless card and reboot to see if ISATAP disappears

ISATAP is something to do with ipv6 addresses, therefore installing a new adapter may have have caused this to show up, removing the card and ISATAP disappearing will confirm it.
also remove any software/drivers you installed for the card.
If ISATAP disappears put the card back and reboot and let windows sort it out.
I am asuming you have win 7

I did everything you said and it was still there, before you wrote this most recent post. I'll uninstall all the stuff and put the card in and see what happens. I have just disabled ISATAP so hopefully that'll help.

Ok dude, the solution was simple. Use a different PCI slot. It's working now! The connection appears to be fine. I'll test it out for a few days if you want to hear a bit more about it though.

Is it showing an error, if so what is it?
Have you put the card back in and rebooted?
Try windows update to see if it offers a driver update.

lol, I was starting to panic there.... glad it's sorted, although I wonder why the other slot didn't work...

Frankly, I don't seem to be wonderful. I think there are problems with our terrible home hub though so I can't really tell you where the issue is. But wirelessly I'm getting 8 meg on a 14 meg wired connection.

on the homehub try changing channels..ref pci slots then it's a complex subject, but trying something in a different slot is always a good idea if it doesn't work.
