Windows CD Key....lost CD...

If someone has a sticker on their PC with an XP cd-key, but they don't have the CD that came with it and we need to re-install windows. Is this possible? Can we use a different CD (from another machine for example) and just use the CD key from the sticker on installing?

I think I may know the answer but want to confirm.

Should be fine.

As long as the version on the CD is the same as the version that the key relates to, i.e. you don't use a retail CD to install but use an OEM key. At least, that's my understanding.
