I have a stange problem in ever time i reboot the clock in windows resets itself to Aug 2001. I thought it was maybe just the battery going flat but when i log into the BIOS the time is correct

Any body got any ideas???

try going..

start, run, services.msc

find the 'windows time service', stop it and disable it

now set the time, if its ok on reboot then it's synching badly somewhere!, if its still wrong then change the motherboard battery, anv 3v flat battery will do i think..

had this happen to my server pc recently, using a motherboard that was brand new (albeit an oldish model), replaced the battery and its fine now

Will try that, the BIOS time is ok so I didnt think it could be that

The time server located at Manchester University have proven to be very reliable over the years.

Net stop w32time
Net time /setsntp:ntp2d.mcc.ac.uk
Net start w32time
Net time /querysntp (Should display the server noted above)
Net time (should report the correct time)
