Hi

Our enterprise is suffering from random workstations that set their time to the year 2088, this has been happening for about a month now, and it's happening on different types of PCs, new and old.

All the domain controllers seem fine, and there's no malware (that's easily detectable) on the machines in question.

Any idea? And why 2088, has that some meaning?

Cheers

Its getting it from a local ntp unix server.

I suspect it all might be the work of one person who's going around screwing things up.

They shouldn't be able to change the system time without admin rights. And I'm guessing these machines can't log onto the domain with the time so far out?

Anyway it sounds like you need to dust off your company acceptable use policy, roll it up, and then beat the offending individual with it.
