Hi, I've got a laptop running Windows 7 x64, Kaspersky AV. Everything works as it should and don't have any problems, but then I thought about my spyware protection. I'm not an idiot and don't click on stuff that I shouldn't (certainly not a beginner at this time of stuff), but I like to have a little bit of spyware protection anyway.

W7 comes with Windows Defender, I used to run Spybot (and Ad-aware before it came bloated) too before WD was around.

Is it worth it anymore or is WD sufficient to experienced user like myself? I'm not in the loop with such things much anymore as my systems all run smoothly as they should.

Get microsoft security essentials, its defenders bigger brother and is better.

Should be all you need if you're clever. Spybot and mbam as a second line if you suspect an infection.

I always disable Windows Defender because imho it's crap. I use Spybot S&D (though I don't use the real time protection, I have it for the HOSTS file protection) and I use SpywareBlaster along with Eset Smart Security (though you have Kaspersky for that last one).
