Windows Desktop Icons keeps arranging my icons, auto arrange is unchecked

why do my desktop icons automatically re-arrange the order each time I start my PC, even though "auto arrange icons" is unticked? So annoying. Any ideas how I can stop them from arranging automatically.

Never seen that before. Strange. If it annoys you that much maybe a re installation is in order. Not seen that problem pop up yet.

I'm not reinstalling for this reason alone, but it is so weird.

might have a read only or corrupt desktop.ini file, you should normally have 2 of these on the desktop.

Make them visible in folder view options, show system files, delete and reboot, leave them in the bin in case you need them back.
