Hi,
i want to change my wireless modem router encryption to WPA i.e. a chosen password, it sets up fine on the router but for some reason when i try to enter it in windows it wont let me, it says it has to be a 40bit to 120bit scii code or something like that.
it works on my sisters windows laptop fine and works fine on my macbook.
the windows pc has an internal pci wireless card.

any help would be great, thanks.

What version of windows? I know some older versions didn't support WPA, only WEP. In this case you have to use the Wireless NIC client software provided with the card.

i have the same problem, xp sp2, the software wont work either

I assume you mean the software that came with the wireless card. Remove it and use the Windows software instead. I find 9 times out of 10 it's better than the supplied software

im using win xp home with sp2. its a belkin 11mbps pci card, i think it jus doesnt support wpa. ive now linked the pc directly via ethernet.
