If it is a SATA HDD then the plugs are the same for a normal 3.5inch SATA youd find in a PC. If it is a crappy IDE jobby, you will need an adapter.
EDIT: Alternatively you could grab a Linux live CD - such as Linux Mint - and copy your data from the drive to USB or over the network. A live CD runs off the CD and RAM - no data is written to hard disk, so is a totally safe way to read the contents of your HDD.
