Hello all. I've just reformatted last night after something went horribly wrong with my PC. Everything's now up to date, I'm running Vista 64 bit and I just wondered if Windows Firewall is adequate, or whether I should look into downloading something else. I've got a router but I've not messed about with it, save for entering my ISP username and password so I've no idea if it's running or not. The PC is only used for gaming if that makes a difference. :)

Generally speaking it's not worth using something else. Windows Firewall and the default NAT firewalling provided by your router are fine.

a router IS a hardware firewall. for the most part, this will be entirely sufficient.

Still good practice to have a host-based firewall on the off chance something happens to another computer on the local network. Especially true for people using laptops.

And yes, the Windows Firewall is absolutely fine.
