Windows Firewall won't turn off... the Turn Off checkbox is shaded out so I cant click it. Have tried ticking the box that says about having your own one but still wont let me turn it off....
any ideas?

tried google but cant find anything

Probably some spyware or something on the pc stopping you disabling it.
Do you have MS Anti-Spyware? Vaguely remember that being overly paranoid.
If you need ICS you'd be far better looking at other fixes before taking my first suggestion.

i did have Windows Onecare but removed it because i didn't like it lol
have disabled the service now, I never use firewalls and don't get problems, mind you, I am behind a router :)

Try going to start > run > gpedit.msc

Go to Computer Configuration > Admin templates > Network > Network Connections > Windows Firewall > Standard Profile and check whether the setting Protect all network connections is enabled, If it is disable it.
