Every day windows likes to freeze for the first boot but seems perfectly fine after i press the restart button, its really odd, the only change i can think of is my Compro TV card, could that be the problem?
try updating the drivers for the tv card? also i would have tried taking the tv card out for a day or two. and see if it does not freeze, if it doesnt change the tv card to another pci slot. if it does freeze however
maybe try going to start then run, type msconfig goto startup and untick everything there.
it *might* be a program thats running on startup.
in that case it could be the harddrive or even the windows installation. try running a scandisk.
or it could be memory but if it crashes at the same point everytime and when it does bootup its fine then it's unlikely.
Ok i've reinstalled XP now and there was something in the tv cards manual that said to change two jumpers to stop it being able to control power up but it was never connected to the power switch anyway, well the jumper change should have fixed it but sadly it did not so im not even sure what the problem is now.
Anyone have the Compro VideoMate DVB-T200 or T300 card and get a similar problem?
Anyone have any more ideas why its happening?
Once at boot seems quite odd and as its a new install i've left startup items very minimal atm just to see.
