Hi there
over the last couple of months ive been having issues with my pc. when im using it e.g browsing the net or listining to music the pc would just freeze, music stop playing for a sec or 2 then itd go back to normal.

now ive recently installed a new cpu and done a fresh install and the problems still there.

can someone advise how would i start looking into seeing whats causing this as not to sure where to start

thanks

Process monitor allows you to view which programs and processes are taking highest priority on your machine at any one time (a bit like task manager only more in depth). The idea is when your system freezes you should be able trace what was using the most amount of RAM and CPU Cycles etc at that given time and establish if it was a specific driver or app causing the freeze. If it's not software related then I would be inclined to look at the HDD in which case make sure it's running in Ultra DMA Mode and maybe even run a quick diagnostic on it.

I'm a novice and certainly no expert but I did have the same sort of problem a while back. I tried everything advised and in the end updating the Direct X files fixed my issues. Like I say, im only a novice but thought it worth mentioning;)
